Properly Brush Your Teeth<\/h2>\n

You\u2019ve probably heard that you\u2019re supposed to brush your teeth twice a day, but are you brushing for 2 minutes each time? You need to spend 2 minutes brushing your teeth while holding your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle. Be sure to brush all of the surfaces of your teeth, as well as your tongue and cheeks, using a fluoride toothpaste.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t Forget to Floss<\/h2>\n

Too many people underestimate the importance of flossing the teeth at least once a day. Flossing removes the food and bacteria that brushing can\u2019t remove. You should use about 18 inches of dental floss that\u2019s placed in between each tooth in the shape of a \u201cC\u201d. Floss all the way down to the gum line and in between each tooth, even in the back.<\/p>\n

Use Mouthwash<\/h2>\n

Mouthwash helps kill bacteria in the mouth that isn\u2019t removed with brushing and flossing. Use mouthwash after you\u2019ve brushed and flossed. Be sure to swish it around for 30 to 40 seconds to give the teeth and gums a good cleaning.<\/p>\n

Clean Your Tongue<\/h2>\n

The tongue is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and a leading cause of bad breath. Use your toothbrush to clean the tongue using a circular motion. You can also use floss to gently scrape the tongue.<\/p>\n

You need to have a dental checkup at least every 6 months. Your dental checkup is an important aspect of preventative care.
