You’ve heard about the wonderous Invisalign method, and how the clear aligners can magically straighten your teeth without you having to wear metal braces. If you’re like most people, you still have a host of questions that you need answered before moving forward. A local dentist has just what you’re looking for. Continue reading for 10 things you need to know about Invisalign in Dublin!

#1 – Will the Process be Painful?

The Invisalign process isn’t painful. However, there will be some slight discomfort at first, as the clear aligners place pressure on the teeth to encourage them to move. It usually takes around a week or two for the sensitivity to subside. From that point on, you won’t have to worry about being in pain.

#2 – How Long Do I Have to Wear the Aligners Each Day?

A big part of seeing the desired results with Invisalign is adhering to the guidelines of wearing them for at least 22 hours throughout the day. Of course, you’ll remove them to eat and drink beverages (other than water) and to clean your teeth.

#3 – How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?

In some cases, the Invisalign treatment process can be completed in as little as 12 months. Ultimately, the treatment time is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the condition of the teeth at the start of the process.

#4 – What Can I Use to Remove My Invisalign Aligners?

To ensure the best results, Invisalign aligners fit snugly against the teeth. This can make it harder to remove them. A crotchet tool can do wonders. By carefully inserting it just beneath the aligners, you can safely remove them without enduring any gum damage.

#5 – Will Invisalign Affect the Way I Speak?

When you first insert your Invisalign aligners, you can expect some changes in how you sound when talking. As time goes by and your teeth begin to move, you’ll easily be able to adjust and get back to speaking normally.

#6 – How Noticeable is Invisalign?

Invisalign is known for its low-profile and clear design. While people may notice that your teeth look shiny, you won’t have to worry about displaying a bulky smile that draws unwanted attention.

#7 – How Do I Clean Invisalign Aligners?

Your Invisalign aligners should be cleaned every time you remove them. You can purchase a special solution called Retainer Brite that is designed to safely and effectively remove debris and bacteria. You’ll start by gently cleaning the aligners with a soft toothbrush and then soaking them in the solution. Afterwards, rinse the aligners thoroughly and reinsert them.

#8 – Can You Drink Coffee and Tea While Wearing Invisalign?

You certainly can drink coffee and tea while wearing Invisalign, but it could lead to some unwanted stains and discoloration. To be on the safe side, it’s better to only consume clear fluids while wearing your aligners.

#9 – What Happens if You Don’t Wear Invisalign Correctly?

Failing to wear your aligners as directed could derail your previous progress. Before the treatment process gets underway, your dentist will map out the complete treatment timeline, based on the aligners being worn at least 22 hours a day. If this is deviated from, you can expect a longer and possibly more costly treatment process.

#10 – Why are the Aligners Feeling Loose?

Typically, after you’ve been wearing a new set of aligners for around a week and your teeth have shifted, you’ll notice a looser feel. This is generally nothing to be alarmed about, as it’s a sign that you’re making progress.

Surely, you have other questions about the Invisalign process. They can all be answered when you visit a local dentist for a consultation. Then, you can get on the road to a straighter and more attractive set of teeth!
