same day crownsCould your life be any busier? Maybe you’d rather not answer that question. Between work, family, shopping, cooking, laundry, kids’ activities, meetings and more, there doesn’t seem to a spare minute. And now you find out that you have a tooth that needs a dental crown! How is that supposed to fit into your schedule? No worries. Dublin, OH, dentist Dr. Eric Buck provides same day crowns with the E4D system.

What is E4D?

E4D is an advanced dental technology that allows Dr. Buck and his team to manufacture dental crowns in Dublin, OH. E4D eliminates the need for a molded impression, temporary crown or the wait time for your permanent crown. Thus, you can repair your tooth without wrecking your schedule.

The Components of E4D

The E4D system is comprised of three main components: the digital intraoral camera, the E4D computer that is loaded with CAD (computer aided design) software, and the in-office milling unit where the dental crown is manufactured. This system replaces the old-fashioned method that necessitated to appointments to prepare the tooth and place a dental crown.

Same Day Crowns Process

With E4D, you can go from having a cracked or otherwise damaged tooth to having a repaired tooth in as little as two hours. As with traditional crowns, Dr. Buck will need to file down your tooth so your new crown fits seamlessly between adjacent teeth and does not interfere with your bite. Then we take precise digital images of your tooth. These images are sent to the E4D computer where CAM (computer aided manufacturing) software creates the design for your new crown. Every aspect of the crown including tooth color, size and shape—the bumps and valleys of the biting surface must be exact—are incorporated into the design.

Next, the milling unit picks up where the computer leaves off. Special burrs carve the crown from a single piece of porcelain. In less than 30 minutes the process is completed and the crown is ready to be cemented on top of your prepared tooth. Your same day crown is extremely strong and able to withstand the normal pressure of biting and chewing. To care for your crown, simply brush and floss as you do your natural teeth.
